The Committee said, "Only very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the world’s attention and given its people hope for a better future..... His diplomacy is founded in the concept that those who are to lead the world must do so on the basis of values and attitudes that are shared by the majority of the world’s population.”
We should have realized that the President of the World was in line for this since the world has been brought from a state of war to total peace since his coronation in January. No wars anywhere and no doubt this honor will add additional emphasis to the Joe Biden/Chuck Hagel send no more troops to Afghanistan approach. Maybe the Commissar will even remove some more missiles from somewhere.
But really, is he the person "who shall have done the most or best work for fraternity between nations"? What standing armies has he abolished or reduced? What congresses has he promoted for peace?
Could it just be that those who award this 'prize' think that by doing so they can manipulate this guy to do their bidding and think like they do? After all, according to the Commissar, no one country is more important than another in his version of the 'new world order.' We think they've figured the Commissar out. Who knows, maybe we'll start hearing Kumbya instead of Hail to the Chief, or perhaps even the lyrics of 'We Shall Overcome.'
We think it is instructive to list some of the former Peace Price Laureates:
- 2007 Al Gore
- 2002 Jimmy Carter
- 2001 Kofi Annan (You remember him and his crooked oil enrichment schemes and abuse of U.N.
- 1994 Yassar Arafat
- 1990 Mikhail Sergeyevich Gorbachev
From Wikipedia we also learn that: "When the past nominations were released it was discovered that Adolf Hitler was nominated in 1939 by Erik Brandt, a member of the Swedish Parliament. Brandt retracted the nomination after a few days. Other infamous nominees included Joseph Stalin and Benito Mussolini. However, since nomination requires only support from one qualified person (e.g., a history professor), these unusual nominations do not represent the opinions of the Nobel committee itself."
Yes there have been some rational and deserving recipients of the Peace Price but it certainly seems that Commissar Barack Hussein Obama nomination is much for in sync with those above.
One last thought: How could those jerks at the Olympic Committee not realized what an important person they were snubbing? Maybe they will ask for a revote?
