Let Local Communities Deal With School Security

After the Newtown shootings and the NRA's response to them we wonder if there isn't a better to solution for parents across the country who are concerned about the security at their children's school.   Why not have parent-volunteers and community volunteers trained on the use of hand guns and let them take shifts at their kids' schools?

We do not need to spend more money having some kind of federal program to put armed forces (police or otherwise) in local schools.    Local schools are the responsibility of local communities. Arm the parents or the 'school resource officers'.
