Just Keep The Flag at Half Staff

It seems Governor Heineman has succumbed to some sort of political madness when it comes to flying the flag at half staff.   We just barely got it up (maybe we didn't) from the Connecticut murders and now we are flying it at half-staff for U.S. Senator Inouye of Hawaii who just passed away on Monday.

Perhaps we should just fly our flags at half-staff permanently and raise them only when something of notable good occurs.

If not, please feel free to contact the governor when your pet gold fish dies and surely he will give the poor fish it's day of mourning in Nebraska.

Yep, we clearly should not show respect too veterans....Which is a very valid reason too fly it at half staff. These kind of post undermine any real conservative goals.

If we lowered the flag half-mast for every veteran who passed it would be permanently at half-mast. Men and women serve this great country so the flag can be raised and everyone go about their business free. Growing up in the sticks of Nebraska when the flag was lowered to half-mast someone of great import or an event in our past was recognized. Today, the flag is at half-mast for any local event that becomes "nationalized" by the media. Another tradition vulgarized so that it has little meaning. Conservative goals should be to maintain worthy traditions.
