Heineman's Future?

Folks in political circles continue to speculate what the future holds for Governor Heineman.   Lots of folks believe that he would like to be Secretary of Agriculture in a Romney administration.    Even for Heineman who doesn't much seem to like the idea of living in Washington (otherwise, he'd be the U.S. Senate nominee) that might be hard to turn down.   Or any other cabinet offer.

But as we've seen recently, there are other options for governors.   Just this week, Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels, a guy that had been much mentioned as a potential presidential candidate or vice presidential one has decided to take on the presidency of Purdue University.

Perhaps, Heineman would like to spend his remaining useful years (and he has many) right here in Nebraska in a new job that he could love, that of Chancellor of the University of Nebraska at Lincoln?  Oh, yes, the current one ol' Harvey Perlman would have to leave but than maybe its about time for that.
