Some time ago we referred to Doug Bereuter in a blog entry (Monday, July 12, 2010 And Now for The Nebraska Republicans) suggesting that U.S. Senator Scott Brown and he probably had similar 'moderate' philosophies. To many, the term would 'moderate' would equate to RINO.We've kind of wondered why we haven't heard anything of political significance (not that we ever did when he was the First District Nebraska U.S. Congressman) from Doug since he returned to Nebraska and his home in Cedar Bluffs some months ago after several years with the Asia Foundation. Well, now we know. Doug's formal employment with his former employer doesn't end until October 1st.
That should send chills down the backs of many conservative Nebraska Republicans who wouldn't be surprised at whom or what he might support when the gag is removed. To be honest, however, Doug has never been as embarrassing as former failed, ineffective, chameleon Nebraska U.S. Senator Chuck "I'll-say-and-do-anything-for-an-Obama-cabinet-post" Hagel.
For those who may not remember, then Congressman Bereuter was nearly booed out of the 1996 Nebraska Republican Convention after insulting then Congressman Jon Christensen and the majority of the delegates present by his harangue against Christian conservatives.

Yeah, let's also remember who are/were the most vocal at those conventions who booed or shunned those who point out a view contrary to theirs.
