Kleeb Runs for Office

We certainly thought that Scott Kleeb should be the Democrat nominee to run against Dave Heineman this fall but apparently Judas Ben Nelson thought he could do more damage against Dave and his potential 2012 senate candidacy by promising Mister Mike Meister some quid pro quo for running.

With that said, there is a Kleeb on the ballot this fall. It is, in fact, Jane Fleming Kleeb who is running for the Hastings, NE School Board. Unlike her husband, she's starting at the grassroots level.

But Jane's problems aren't just her husband. No, it seems that Nebraska Right to Life isn't overly convinced that Jane should hold office. So NRL has rented part of a booth at the Adams County Fair to 'inform' folks about Jane's liberal views.

Here's what they tell us about Jane in their recent missive:
  • "WAS DIRECTOR OF CHANGE THAT WORKS-NEBRASKA IN 2009 DURING THE OBAMA HEALTH CARE LEGISLATIVE BATTLE. CHANGE THAT WORKS-NEBRASKA WAS FUNDED BY THE SERVICE EMPLOYEES INTERNATIONAL UNION WHICH SUPPORTED THE HEALTHCARE REFORM BILL, WITHOUT ANY INCLUSION OF PRO-LIFE LANGUAGE IN THE BILL."

  • "JANE FLEMING KLEEB SUPPORTED SENATOR BEN NELSON’S VOTE FOR THE HEALTHCARE BILL WHICH NATIONAL RIGHT TO LIFE AND NEBRASKA RIGHT TO LIFE OPPOSED."

  • "SHE MADE A PUBLIC STATEMENT ON HER TWITTER ACCOUNT REGARDING HER OPPOSITION TO PRO-LIFE LB 594, THE WOMENS’ HEALTH PROTECTION ACT, WHICH WAS PASSED BY THE NEBRASKA LEGISLATURE IN APRIL, 2010."

  • "SHE IS CURRENT DIRECTOR OF BOLD NEBRASKA, AN ORGANIZATION WITH A GOAL OF PROMOTING “PROGRESSIVE” POLITICS IN NEBRASKA.

Actually, if the Nebraska Republican Party were smart, it would get on the bandwagon in this effort as well--if only to stem her political future now rather than later after she's held some form of elected position.

Forgot to forward the info that NRL PAC rents a portion of South Central NE Right to Life's booth for election literature, and has for several election cycles. We also do it in a few other counties. Anyway, Scott Kleeb's energy business booth is conveniently located right next to the Right to Life booth in Hastings. Hope it give our RTL volunteers a chance to pin the Kleebs down on their nebulous definition of "pro-life."

Julie, I will debate you any day any where on what it means to be pro-life. Name the place and I am there. And, your folks running the booth cant even be honest when Scott is around to have the flyer out...and your members are signing up to do biz with Scott also. Sad what happens when you are not there with your iron fist.

Jane Fleming-Kleeb is a stong advocate for life, she was raised by a strong Pro-Life mother who worked as President of a local Right to Life chapter and worked with National Right to Life for many, many years.Jane fought alongside me in most of the battles, and grew in knowlege of both sides of the argument.Jane was raised to be an independent thinker and to formulate postive responses not reactions. Jane advocates for all life and will as she states debate anyone at any time on her views on what it means to be and advocate for life and the education of childrren.Jane can demonstrate very clearly how she can make a difference..Right to Life organizations have been fighting the cause for decades with still no resoultion to the cause for which they continue to fight. Does it occur to any one of the organizations that education remains the key, that preventing pregancy remains the key and that the ultimate goal of anyone who is pro life is to stem the tide of abortion and focus on how can we as a society teach respect and educate on what the fight should truly be about INFORMATION so that less abortions are performed and more education is diseminated to all. If the Pro Life forces would join with the Pro Choice forces to unite in the common cause of education I am willing to bet more progress could be made on both sides.Jane is trying to make a difference to children and education how many pro-lifers can stand up and say the same.Do not lable Jane or pre-judge her. Jane is all about standing up for education and improving the lives of children. Marsha Fleming Friedman

Jane, I wouldn't give you the benefit of a public debate so you can garner more free publicity than you already have. If your Mom worked in single issue RTL in Florida, that's great. We have ways of verifying that as well. However Mom's comments do not jive with the mindset of single issue pro-lifers today; such as those ladies at the South Central NE RTL booth. Talk of "common ground" with our opponents and "education" are buzz phrases that single issue pro-lifers reject. Your Mom is not running for Hastings School Board, you are. You and all other local candidates in Hastings will receive an NRL PAC survey. If you choose to fill it out and lecture us on how pro-life you are because you were raised by your Mom, go ahead. Your actions and other public pronouncements speak louder than any survey you answer and you will be held accountable for those.

I have no liking for Jane, but Julie - you holding people accountable is a laugh. You and your organization never spoke and made it clear Gov. Heineman was wrong about his position on prenatal care. You've been challenged repeatedly just to make that simple statement - that he was wrong and never should have taken the position he did because it led, and continues to lead to, the ending of innocent lives. If you're not prepared to speak out against him on that issue - regardless if you ultimately continue to endorse him for his overall record - then you lose the ability and the crediblity to try and hold people accountable. It means your voice and your advocacy is clearly for sale.
