Mulligan joins Democrats in voting for bankruptcy or tax increases

Well, liberals take heart. After being sworn in as the new District 7 City Councilman, Thomas Mulligan joined not only all the Democrats but Republican Franklin Thompson in supporting a 3.5% pay increase for the city workers for 2011 and 2012 by his vote to approve the civilian workers contract. Only Jean Stothert had the good sense and bravery to vote against the contract which only further increases the city's already perilous movement toward bankruptcy and/or tax increases.

Republicans should, as the saying goes, be careful what they wish for. Yes, they got a Republican but they also got a councilman that apparently wants to sing kumbya while he repays his mentor and Democrat relative Don Klein for his appointment by disregarding fiscal sanity.

Not a good start for the new councilman......
