RINOS Of No Value to GOP

Dick Morris has a not unsurprising editorial today about the three RINO Republican Senators that sold out to support President Barack Hussein Obama and Harry Reid on the 'stimulus' package. While Republicans have fought valiantly to keep a senate that can filibuster legislation like this, their efforts are simply in vein when it comes to supporting the likes of Susan Collins, Arlen Specter and Olympia Snowe, the three turncoats who voted for the package.

In 2010 Specter will be up for re-election. We've speculated about Chris Matthews running for this seat, but it appears he is out. Regardless, one can count on a tough opponent for Specter's seat. Last time around Rick Santorum and others reluctantly supported him and he won. We at the Objective Conservative would suggest that this time the Republicans forget this race. If Specter wins so be it. If he wants to become a Democrat so be it. If a Democrat beats him so be it. What is the loss? When the other two come up for re-election in 2012 and 2014 hopefully the Republican Party will be on a roll and it won't need the votes of these RINOs.

Morris said:

"Collins, Snowe and Specter had a chance to send a message to Obama that he had to deal with the Republican Party to avert a filibuster. They could have made it clear that genuine bipartisan cooperation was necessary to pass legislation. These three senators, pledged to cut taxes and oppose massive growth in federal spending, could have demanded a 2-to-1 ratio for tax cuts over spending, rather than the reverse, as Obama is succeeding in getting.

"Instead, the three wimped out and caved in for peanuts from Obama. In doing so, they completely stripped their party of any leverage. There was no point in having gotten 41 votes if the three weakest links could sell the party out."
