Gaming (Gambling) is back

Yes, State Senator Karpisek has introduce LB 266 and LR 6CA in an attempt to put slot machines in Nebraska's moribund race tracks.
The good senator's overt purpose is to put the state government income from these activities into Nebraska's 'underfunded' roads program.

The unintended consequences of the good senator's legislation would be to open the floodgates to gambling across Nebraska with the first beneficiaries being the Indian casinos which would be able to offer the same sort of gambling--slot machines.

The unintended consequences of letting race tracks and Indian casinos offer slot machines would simply be an orchestrated effort to expand casinos across the state to further help fund Nebraska programs and 'save' the taxpayers from increased taxes.
We hope lawmakers have better things to do then 'give' us new ways to spend our money.

Thanks, Senator Karpisek, but this is one 'gift-horse' we can pass on.

Sorry, I'm for it. I'm all for new business in Nebraska...we need the income. If you haven't bothered to look, but most of the license plates in the casinos in Iowa are from, you guessed it, Nebraska.
